ICT – Creating Dragons out of Shapes

Our ICT lessons have been great fun, so far this term. We have been learning new skills to help us do things quicker on a computer.

These include using:

  • ctrl c – copy
  • ctrl v – paste
  • grouping objects together

By using these skills, we have been able to create dragons using the shapes on PowerPoint.

Do you like our dragon heads?

Creating a Clay Dragon

We have had an amazing time making our clay dragons with Louise. We used lots of utensils to create a range of effects on our dragons. Some of us made 3D dragons and some of us made square shaped pots with dragons wrapped around them. We will have our clay dragons back in approximately two weeks, after they have been fired in the kiln.
Here are some photographs of us creating our clay models and holding our final creations.

Features of a Non-chronological Report

Next week we are going to be writing a non-chronological report about komodo dragons. In preparation for the writing task, we looked at a range of information texts and drew out the key features.

The most common features were:

  • Big, bold title
  • Paragraphs
  • Subheadings
  • Facts/fact boxes
  • Pictures / photographs
  • Captions
  • Labels
  • Diagrams

We used Post-it Notes and stuck them on examples we found in a range of texts.
