Over the last two weeks, we have been writing a variety of character and setting descriptions. We used our senses to help us write descriptions and included similes to make it more interesting. Some of us used personification and onomatopoeia.

Creating a Clay Dragon
We have had an amazing time making our clay dragons with Louise. We used lots of utensils to create a range of effects on our dragons. Some of us made 3D dragons and some of us made square shaped pots with dragons wrapped around them. We will have our clay dragons back in approximately two weeks, after they have been fired in the kiln.
Here are some photographs of us creating our clay models and holding our final creations.

We used Post-it Notes and stuck them on examples we found in a range of texts.

Pentatonic Scale
As part of our music curriculum, we have started learning about the pentatonic scale. The pentatonic scale consists of five notes and are the black notes on a keyboard. Many songs have been sung using this scale. We sang a few songs including ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ and ‘I’m Gonna Sing’. We also experimented playing the pentatonic scale.
Listen to our beautiful singing!

Materials in our classroom
Today, we have been finding objects in our classroom and identifying the material used to make them. We found lots of different materials including, wood, metal, plastic, glass and rubber.
We created a tally chart and bar chart to show our results.
This a tally chart showing the different materials.
