We have been using a range of equipment to learn all about control.

Eric Joyner – Art Gallery

We have been studying an American artist called Eric Joyner. He draws and paints pictures containing robots. Eric Joyner always includes a doughnut, cupcake or yum yum in his drawings. We created our own drawings, using his style.

 

Pentominoes

In Maths, all 3 classes in Year 3/4 learned about pentominoes.

Internet Research – Roman Shields

During ICT, we searched the internet for different Roman shield designs. When we found one we liked, we used Paint to draw the design. Here are some of our designs.

ICT – Internet Research

Today, we used a website (http://www.schoolsliaison.org.uk/kids/romancent.htm) to find out all about the clothes, armor and weapons used by a Roman soldier. We labelled a Roman soldier and explained what some of the items are.

Basketball – Session 3

During session 3 of basketball, we learned how to carry out a few more skills.

These included:

• Bouncing the ball behind us – we did this by bouncing the ball to the side, stepping forward and then receive the ball with the other hand.
• Bouncing the ball under our leg – to do this move, we had to have the ball in one hand,  step forward with the opposite foot and bounce the ball between our legs.
• Bouncing the ball at different heights – we started off bouncing the ball while standing, then sat down and slowly lent back to lay on the floor, keeping control of the ball.

We played a game at the end of the session. Our overall winner was Megan and our runners up were Bailey, Harrison and Benjamin.

Creating a Clay Dragon

We have had an amazing time making our clay dragons with Louise. We used lots of utensils to create a range of effects on our dragons. Some of us made 3D dragons and some of us made square shaped pots with dragons wrapped around them. We will have our clay dragons back in approximately two weeks, after they have been fired in the kiln.

Information Text – Komodo Dragons

This week we have been writing an information text (non-chronological report) on komodo dragons. We worked in pairs to write the paragraphs but decided independently how to present our work.

In PE we have been creating sequences of dance moves to represent dragons.

Features of a Non-chronological Report

Next week we are going to be writing a non-chronological report about komodo dragons. In preparation for the writing task, we looked at a range of information texts and drew out the key features.

The most common features were:

• Big, bold title
• Paragraphs
• Subheadings
• Facts/fact boxes
• Pictures / photographs
• Captions
• Labels
• Diagrams

We used Post-it Notes and stuck them on examples we found in a range of texts.
